My research focuses on what makes teams work effectively.
Specifically, I’m curious about how to help people collaborate and communicate more effectively to achieve strong trust and performance, especially while facing extreme stress and adversity.
Some questions that my research addresses:
Psychological Safety & Voice: How can leaders create supportive climates that encourage people to share ideas and concerns? What kinds of ideas are managers more likely to act on vs. reject?
Resilience: What are the key characteristics of resilient teams? How can we build resilience in teams, especially those engaged in high-uncertainty work (e.g., entrepreneurs, medical professionals…)?
Team Conflict: What are the unique ways in which people attempt to manage conflict? How does the way people express conflict affect recipients’ conflict reactions?
Mental Health: What are some hidden causes and consequences of poorer mental health? What leads individuals, leaders especially, to disclose mental health challenges at work?
